History: Aug. 25-31photos by Jim Crowley Here is a brief look at some of the major events that have happened in Stones history during the week of August 25-31: 1963 28 The Stones' first television appearance: Ready Steady Go 29 Stones appear on Scene at 6:30 1964 25 Stones appear on Here Today 1965 27 Ready Steady Go 24 Meeting with Allen Klein 28 Stones announce that Tito Burns will be their British agent while Allan Klein (once their accountant) will become the band's co-manager. The deal promises the Stones $3 million over the next five years. 29 Stones appear on Lucky Stars Summer Spin 1966 25Mick crashes his Aston Martin near his home in Marylebone. The car is badly damaged, but neither Mick nor girlfriend Chrissie Shrimpton is hurt. 1967 26 Mick and Marianne Faithful tag along with the Beatles to Bangor, North Wales to meet the Mahareshi. Mick proclaims himself unimpressed. 1971 31 The Stones file a High Court Writ against former agents Andrew Oldham and Eric Easton. They claim the pair had a "secret deal" with Decca records to keep them from their rightful royalties. The Stones received 6% while Oldham and Easton received 14%. Oldham also got an extra 25% as a managers fee. The Stones also file against Allen Klein claiming he had tricked them into signing away the North American rights to all songs published by Nanker Phelge Music Inc. The band thought they controlled the company when in fact it was controlled by Klein. The Stones lost their battle against Klein which is why early Stones songs are popping up in commercials. This leads to some ironic couplings, such as Pepsi using "Brown Sugar." 1972 26 The Stones announce that the recent US tour grossed 1.5 million pounds - a very successful tour. They could have made more, but the ticket prices were considered too high. Most tickets sold for $6.50. 1974 27 Ron Wood releases his first solo album " I've Got My Own Album To Do." This project could be seen as a warmup to Ron's joining the band. Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Mick Taylor all appear on the album. 1977 25 The Daily Mirror reports on the first crack in Mick Jagger's marriage. While Mick and Bianca are both on the Greek island of Hydra, they are seen sitting at separate tables in the local clubs. 1985 28 James Leroy Augustine Jagger born to Mick and Jerri Hall. After a string of girls, Mick finally produces an heir. 1989
