A flashback to the 1988 Calgary Olympic rodeo awards ceremony…members of the U.S. and Canadian rodeo teams accepted their medals in front of 80,000 spectators at the Olympic Plaza in downtown Calgary. At the 1988 Olympic rodeo, ProRodeo Hall of Famer Lewis Field of Elk Ridge, Utah was the only triple medallist of the rodeo. The U.S. team took home five of six gold medals and defeated Canada 4,950 points to 3,140 to win the team gold medal at the Rodeo ’88 Challenge Cup. Other 1988 Olympic competitors were Bruce Ford, Tuff Hedeman, Marvin Garrett, the late Lane Frost, Joe Beaver, Ted Nuce and Charmayne James.
