Salty Dog - Ever hear a piece of music, love it, then not hear it for ten years or more;then, when you finally hear it again, it sounds as good in reality as in did in your memory? Such is the case with Every Dog Has Its Day, Salty Dog's first CD. Hard to find stuff; its currently out of print. After the original singer left, the group pretty much dropped out of sight. It was akin to Steve Tyler leaving Aerosmith after the first album.

The Front - sounds like a really good bar band - while the aforementioned Salty Dog Cd is available from sites like Songsearch, this one is nigh impossible to find. It was released on Columbia Records in 1989, received hardly any airplay, and then disappeared. It rocked in a subtle, psychedelic,Moog synthesizer, hippie-rock way. The Doors as a Midwestern bar band, circa 1989. That's either intriguing or sacrilege, depending on your point of view....

Circus of Power - They toiled in one of the most heinous place on earth ever to inbreed rock n rollers - Manhattan's Lower East Side in the late 1980s. Witness song titles such as Needles, Mama Tequila, etc. When you saw this singer's tattoos and bandana you thought Hell's Angels, not"Might throw a fit cause the Perrier isn't the right temperature. Aside - wrote songs with AIC's Jerry Cantrell in L.A.at the beginning of their career.

Bang Tango - Like a stained glass bunch of gypsies loud psychedelic beats - The Cult with an El Lay sensibility. Their best LP was the underrated Psycho Cafe. They cut their hair, released a new CD and played Vegas recently.

Slaughter - Stick It To Ya - Don't laugh Even a too cool for words "I like the Smiths" roommate of mine overheard me playing this cassette and asked "Wow! Who's that? They're good. Slaughter reappeared on some 80's reunion package tour last year... Fly to the Angels is a beautiful song, if the falsetto vocals don't give you a headache.

L.A.Guns - Suppliers of Monster Ballad material, up to and including The Ballad of Jayne.

Cycle Sluts From Hell

Four women from new york they did not use their real names. (Good move.) Worth a mention for their moniker and their one Headbangers Ball video, Wish You Were A Beer.

Love - Hate - Blackout In The Red Room

The best!! Starting with the album cover, which features a guy smoking a bong and the out of control vocals by Jizzy Pearl. (He writes comic books now.)The titles include - Hell,California, Population Four. (I been there!) Rock Queen and Slutsy Tipsy which made fun of the heavy metal slut subculture. The remaining cuts were also loud, indiscreet rockers that put the hairdo bands to shame.
