Classic Rock Revisited- An Interview With Jeb Wright

1. When did you start Classic Rock Revisited? Was it hard to get the site up and running, or did you ger co-operation from interviewees and publicists immediately?

Classic Rock Revisited was born in August of 1999. We went live because we were sick and tired of seeing the artist we loved being left out of the mainstream media outlets. We started with only 10-20 visits a day but over time we have built ourselves up to over 4500 sessions each and ever day. It was very hard to get up and running for many reasons. First off, I had never interviewed or reviewed or written anything up to that point in my life. I simply knew I loved the music. We are located in Arkansas City, Kansas -- a town of only 10,000, so we are not the hub of the entertainment industry! I simply bought a CD and looked on the back of the CD and saw it was put out by Sanctuary Records. I called the then publicist Laura Kaufman and told her what I wanted to do. She decided to take a chance on us and sent me some CDs for review. She liked what we did and we set up our first interview with Judas Priest bass player Ian Hill. There are many funny stories from our early interviews I could tell you about. For instance, my wife Patty had to do the first interview with Judas Priest because I had to go to work at my day job. She hates heavy metal and had never even heard of Judas Priest! I laid the questions out for her and she pulled it off very well. My first interview was with Ted Nugent. I had to run to my neighbors house and borrow their speaker phone so I could tape the conversation I had with Ted. I did not even have a hand held tape machine at that time. I play music as well and I had rigged up a microphone to hang over the machine and ran it through my equipment for perfuming into a tape deck. It was a big and horrible mess. Our third interview was with Foghat and I had to argue with their manager because he said that we were too small to cover Foghat. I had to remind him that no one was knocking down their door to talk to them. It got kind of nasty but in the end I won out. I since have met and talked to Foghat's Roger Earl on several occasions and have been invited to dinner with them the next time they are in town. So to make a long story somewhat short -- no it was not easy. We have had to scrap and fight our way to exist and there are still bands who will not work with us because we are an online entity and not print or television.
