Avoiding resume blunders

Spelling errors:
Typos, poor grammar and silly spelling errors are unforgivable in your resume - even omitting just one letter can make the difference in being offered an opportunity to interview or not. Once you have edited your document thoroughly, have your friends and family read through it as well. A fresh pair of eyes can pick up the smallest of errors that you may have missed.

Career objectives:
If you include a career objective that states, "the desire to work for a progressive company who recognizes, values and rewards hard work and dedication in their employees," then be prepared to have your application tossed aside. Why? Because this is boring and often included in resumes by uninformed job applicants. Rather than a career objective (which concentrates on what you want), develop a powerful summarizing statement that sells your skills and expertise and grabs the reader's attention.

Happy writing!
