Interview: Different Poets Tell of Inspirations and Rituals II

Me: " What first inspired you to write poetry?"

Luciano : "..deep, deep, emotions gone unspoken."

Me: ""Is there some kind of ritual or technique that you use before writing a poem?"

Luciano: "I lie down in the lazy boy, and muse over what I feel and what I feel like writing about. It could be done in a bubble bath too. One has to be serene and have his thoughts fully collected before starting."

Me: "Would you mind sharing some of your work?

The Enlightenment
By: Luciano Pimentel

Existence can have no meaning
when it is but survival and denial
lying to oneself and rejecting
the profound truth outside the mile
The infinitesimal hope beyond the matter
resting upon a case much dire
it has no bearing on any pretender
but any other seeker it rends asunder
For worthiness is never assured
when salvaging is attempted
if one feels lesser
than he should have been
perhaps the entire entreprise within
should have never been projected
Into the astral lights we peer
seeking out solace as delight
For deep within we know full well
that there is nothing material beyond the light
and nothing without it can be called bright
But my love for you shall be eternal
and love is expressed in the material

Luciano has a very good idea as well, each writer must create their own enviroment inwhich they begin writing!

Another idea that was given by Jo Murphy was to integrate poems into a story. This can help a writer find a theme and since the writer is already writing the story, the poem may come easier than just beginning with a poem.

Family Dysfunction

Their gaping bareness symbolized honesty and vulnerability. Even the word Melaleuca had a positive sing songy ring to it. She often felt like breaking into a chanting humming style tune. However she thought some of the others might think her mad. Although still a little self conscious Annie was working on her self esteem too.

Inwardly and quietly she hummed

"Melaleuca Spiritual Song
Power of the Dream Time lingering on
Heal this woman now she needs you so
Healing channeled to help her grow."

(As though the others didn't know she was singing within. Her foot was a tapping and her pencil was a clapping against the paper as she drew, and drew, and drew.) They all loved Annie and accepted her just as she was. It was unfortunate that she couldn't understand this - but one day she would - self-acceptance is always the last part of the journey
