Clinton Retrospective

I know, he still has six months to go, but this issue is more complex than some would have you believe. What will be the enduring image of this President that will we carry into the near and distant future? Will it be his finger pointing into our faces while declaring his innocence? Can the President's fiscal accomplishments outweigh the shame of his impeachment? Do we see a felon worthy of disbarment or a "New Democrat" who convinced the public that the Democrats were the party of fiscal responsibility? Or do we see ourselves in the mirror of history and that's infuriating!( The Clintongate P:residency- http://members.tripod.com/~GOPcapitalist... )

Do the 76 million boomers see themselves in caught up in lies, adultery, using people and yet hating our resilient capacity to survive, even when trapped? Are we such a morally correct generation that we have every right to damn the President for demeaning the Oval Office? Does our righteous thunder erupt from jealousy of the aphrodisiac qualities that powerful people exude? Some of the most virulent hatred of the President emotes from friends and colleagues who I know have engaged in extra-marital affairs. There appears to be some duplicity the air. (Clinton Interview with Jim Lehrer-http://members.tripod.com/~GOPcapitalist... )

I have to admit that the following vision evokes some very powerful and irrational demons in me- Oliver North condemning Bill Clinton's moral outrages. The same Oliver North who claims that he is innocent of any wrong doing in the Iran-Contra Affair despite thousands of pages of immunized Congressional evidence. I feel compelled to vomit, when the man who traded with the Ayatollah Khomeini and sanctioned the destabilization of tiny backwoods Nicaraguan villages, condemns Clinton's immorality.(The Moral Duplicity of the War on Drugs- http://www.magnet.ch/serendipity/wod/dup... )

Why does the older generation hate Mr. Clinton? Is it because he lacked the romantic qualities of a Franklin Roosevelt who died in his lover's arms in Georgia? Does the World War II generation admire President Eisenhower's discretion in regards to his wartime affair with his driver and by subtraction wince at Clinton's obvious self-destructive behaviors? Or is it the Camelot vision of John Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe swimming naked in the White House Pool? (A Brief History of Sex and the Presidency- http://www.dnai.com/~mindfld/sex.html )

Do the parents of the boomer generation realize that their suburban dream failed and mom had to work? Consequently, television and peer groups raised their children. They won the Second World War and then were compelled to sacrifice their children's moral upbringing on the altar of materialism. Do they see Bill Clinton as the symbol for everything that went wrong?
