De Feet Stress!© Julie J. Murelle
Here's a question: What takes you every place you need to go and gets less respect than Rodney Dangerfield? Confused? Okay, here are a few hints: Do you know how far you walk in a day? And if you work out, ouch, you can bet that these appendages need not be ignored any further. Ummmm....You put your shoes on them.....Right! I am talking about your feet. Those two little balancing agents at the end of your legs. You know, the ones we ladies cram into pumps and then proceed to go about our business in this most uncomfortable way.
My daughter and I have a wonderful tradition that we do each week. Every Sunday night, we have a slumber party. We eat snacks and watch movies and play games and dolls and do art, but my daughter's most favorite activity that we do is taking a footbath, followed by a foot massage. Madison and I sit on the edge of a bathtub filled with bubbles and oil. We suds up our feet and soak them. Then we dry our feet and we massage our feet with lotion and then we give ourselves a pedicure. It is so relaxing and such a great way to spend time with my little five year old. Because this felt so good, I decided that I was not going to wear any shoes that caused me pain. I went through my shoe collection that could rival Amelda Marcos' and I pitched out over half of my shoes. This was the second step in my foot care process. I was telling my sister Lisa about how we do this and she suggested that I do an article on this topic. An article about feet?" I thought to myself, "Where would my information come from?" www.pidalextremidies.org ? I began to look for research. And guess what I found? There is an actual science involving feet massage. It is called reflexology. And not only can you relax with a foot massage, but hand and ear massage as well. Now I don't know if I would be up for someone massaging my ears but as someone who types a lot, the hand thing sounds pretty terrific to me. Go To Page: 1 2
