Art For Art Sake, And Your Own - Page 2© Julie J. Murelle Have you ever pounded clay into submission? How about grabbing a fist full of paint and flinging it on to a canvas? This is very satisfying indeed. I have found a really great website called, "Now Get Creative," at www.nowgetcreative.com. And there is a wonderful article on art therapy at http://www.nowgetcreative.com/help.htm This article was written to help us all with the stresses of the September 11 tragedy. Here is one of the exercises from an article included on this webpage," ANSWERING THE QUESTIONS AND A SHARING OF THOUGHTS," by Anitra Redlefsen, M.S.: "Just to illustrate, try this exercise (from: Living With Feeling: The Art of Emotional Expression, Lucia Capacchione, Ph.D., Jeremy P. Tarcher/Putnam, 2001): Using a pen, pencil, markers, whatever, and, using your non-dominant hand, scribble, draw, doodle or make marks on a piece of paper. Then with the dominant hand, write down words that express how you are feeling. Reflect on the process; what did it feel like to image with your non-dominant hand, what emotions did you experience? How are you feeling now?" It feels a little weird when you try this at first, but I found it to be very insightful. It is one of those things that takes time and practice but can be very useful This web page has a lot of free useful information, (as well as paid for, but I derived a lot of facts just from what was free). The world of artistic choices is a vast one. Find your niche and open up a world of tranquility and the possibility of reunification with your inner child. Which ever medium you choose, it can be great, as long as your heart and expression go along with it. Go To Page: 1 2
