"Exercise" Your Right to Un-Stress© Julie J. Murelle
Have you ever had one of those days where you just can seem to get going and nothing is going right? It feels as though you are running in place or on one of those hamster wheels. Do you know what I mean? When stress sets in, your body many times just cringes at the very thought of getting up, much less doing some big work out.
Even though this is probably the last thing on your mind, especially if you don't normally do it, this is actually the perfect time to work out. By exercising you can change your day, by changing your energy. Exercise has many great advantages. It gets the endorphins going and makes you feel strong. It helps you to look fit and gives you the pardon to eat something a little decadent, (seeing how you have all ready kick started your metabolism for the day). I am not saying carte blanche to eat a whole cheesecake, but perhaps a guilt free sliver. Now I am going to suggest a couple of things that I feel are great stress relieving exercises. For starters, there are yoga, and karate. (I know that there are many other exercises akin to this but these are the ones that pop right into my mind.) The reason why I lump these together, is that they deal with both the mind and the body. And if you have all that working together, well, it is pretty hard for stress to rear its ugly unwelcome head. Doesn't fit your style? Then I would like to suggest to you taebo and kick boxing. What a great way to get out your frustration. As you kick, you can scream, "I hate my job, why didn't I get that promotion?" As you punch you may yell, "I can't believe the mess that my dog made on the carpet and I can't believe that I have to clean it up!!!" Anger release with positive action equals stress relief. A punching bag works the same way, or a step for you to pound up and down on. Jogging, Roller Blading, what ever you choose. The exercise world is your oyster!!!! The main point is that you must enjoy what you pick or you will not feel motivated to do it. Exercise should not be a punishment; it should be a privilege. Something special that you look forward to and do to nurture yourself. Now before you get the wrong idea about me, I was never athletic and I have struggled with my weight my whole life. I have found that if you try to make these changes too fast or with unreal goals, you are only setting yourself up for disappointment. Go To Page: 1 2
