For the attunement of the First, Second, and Master levels, each student should be seated in a chair. The chair backs are to have 2-4 feet between them and be placed in rows. When the students sit, their spines are to be aligned. This placement allows for the spinal chakra link-up which creates a powerful energy for maximum effectiveness. The First Degree is the initiation to Reiki. I attune my First Degree students to the Chokurei symbol, while some teachers do not attune to a symbol at Level 1.
I begin by taking my students into deep meditation using hypnosis and the following script. The important thing to remember when going by this script is that you never know what is going to happen! Your student may tell you what they are seeing, or you may be intuitive guided to go in another direction. Follow your intuition! HYPNOSIS SCRIPT: The relaxation Meditation is done at the onset of each attunement. It is important that as you proceed with the meditation, a pause of about 5 heartbeats long occurs between each statement to allow for deep relaxation (this is indicated by the ellipses). The chairs are to be in position (back to back in two rows) with the initiates seated as described. Verbal Instructions Get comfortable... get really relaxed... take a deep breath... hold it... close your eyes... let our breath out slowly and completely... concentration your attention behind your eyes... relax all the muscles in your eyes now... just relax them completely... relax your eyes so that they just won't open... pretend your eyes just won't open... relax them... and now, when you are sure they are relaxed so that they won't open... test your eyes to make sure they ar relaxed... if they are relaxed... they just won't open... good.
