Astral Attunements?© Rev. T. Darlene Cheek, CHt., RMT
Astral attunements are the reason my own Reiki teacher quit speaking to me. So yes, the subject is highly controversial. As with everything in my belief system, however, I believe that you have to do what's right for you and what you are guided to do by your higher spirits. With that said, let's discuss this subject from my perspective to begin with, and if you have anything you'd like to add or ask, feel free to stop by the discussion boards.
During the attunement, it is necessary to direct the RAKU fire energy up the spine and into the brain to the pineal gland. This reenergizes the entire body and raises your spiritual consciousness. The first step in this process is KIDNEY BREATHING. To see if you are breathing properly, place the palm of your hands flat against your lower back over the kidneys. Direct your breath into the kidneys, expanding them. Your hands should raise with every inhalation and lie flat at the end of every exhalation. This type of breathing will increase your RAKU gradually if practiced every day. The second step is to locate the HUI YIN acupressure point (conception vessel 1) between your anus and genitals. Feel as if you are pulling this point up into your body as you contract it. The Reiki Master can hold this during the entire attunement, and with more experience and control can hold this during a class attunement. This step directs the RAKU fire energy up along the spinal column. Make sure that you are breathing normally when holding this point. Women may be familiar with the term Kagel Exercise when describing this movement. Combining the KIDNEY BREATH with the contraction of the HUI YIN point is the next step. First contract your Hui Yin and then take a Kidney Breath. As you are filling your lower abdomen with your breath, imagine a light mist forming at the base of your spine. The mist moves up the spine as if it were inside a hollow tube. This mist enters the head, filling the head. At this point, the white mist releases through the mouth making a hissing sound. To make this sound, the tongue is placed at the ridge behind your front teeth. Instructing students prior to attuning them in these exercises is optional since they will be participating and can simply follow you.
