Q: Is my Reiki practitioner required to tell me what he or she is doing to me at any given moment?
A: No, there is no rule that a Reiki practitioner communicate constantly with his or her patient. And some practitioners believe in practicing in total silence. However, most practitioners will talk with you extensively before treatment to tell you what to expect. They may also talk to you during the treatment to get feedback on how you feel. This is especially true if your practitioner is trained up to Reiki II, which is emotional healing. However, your practitioner is NOT a licensed psychologist unless he or she also bears a certificate stating such. You should never feel that you have to tell him or her anything personal, and you should never expect emotional/mental therapy from a Reiki practitioner. You may experience an emotional release if your practitioner is up to Reiki II, but beyond that, if you feel you need emotional guidance, find a licensed therapist.
