I have this tendency to buy entirely too much music, especially online. I can't go a week without placing an order with CDNow or any of the other numerous music stores I frequent. So I figured I'd depart from the usual a bit this week and let you all know some worthwhile places on the Web to go for reggae music.
So let's start with a shopping list: Bob Marley's "Legend," Yabby You's "Jesus Dread," and Lee "Scratch" Perry's "Upsetter Shop Vol. 2." All prices reflect any promotions as of June 10, 1999.
One thing to keep in mind is that often items will not ship right away because they are not in stock. With some of the mega-stores I've waited 4 weeks before my item was shipped. So, while 800.com may be the cheapest, I've personally been waiting for my copy of "Jesus Dread" for almost 3 weeks now. Also, while CDNow is more expensive than the other mega-stores (800.com and totale.com), they frequently have $10 off coupons that would bring the price down significantly. Lastly, the speciality reggae CD stores here don't fare too well pricewise, but you're likely to find more helpful advice if you're not quite sure what you're looking for. In addition, they shine when searching for those hard-to-track down 7"'s. This week we dealt with some of the larger online stores for easier to find reggae CDs.
