Angelina Jolie Bares All: Hollywood's Sexiest Mom on Life, Love and Lara Croftaspirations to "be bad" on film should definitely attract a crowd. When asked why she thinks she's such a sex symbol for both sexes, Jolie replies: "Probably because I love women as well as men. I don't really see the difference between loving a man and loving a woman, so women shouldn't feel threatened by me. I love communicating with people. I need to share and I feel very connected to everybody. I think most people feel like they know me, and they actually do in many ways." Nevertheless, Jolie finds the notion of being a sex symbol right now a bit odd since "I'm somebody at the moment, and for a long time, who has not had any sex. So I don't feel [like a sex symbol] at the moment- I feel like a mom." Whether she feels like one of People Magazine's "50 Most Beautiful People" or not though, one thing is for certain: Angelina Jolie is one of the most culturally aware celebrities in Hollywood, and she's out to make a difference on-screen and off. "I like that I've been able to tell stories and be an actor and that people have responded to me. I don't really consider it success as a celebrity as much as I consider it being accepted by other people and understood by other people who identify with certain things. Being in the public's eye, I understand the responsibility of being able to do things. I know that now I can be in Sri Lanka and do certain things that I feel are important, and that I can actually bring attention to it. I love that about being in the public's eye- that's a wonderful thing," the actress states. "The most important thing to me is when somebody comes up to me on the street and explains to me why they identified with something and maybe how it helped them in their life. Even if it's something as simple as an 11-year-old coming up to me who's excited because he thinks I'm Lara Croft, then that's really cool. And if that continues to grow and people identify with something like Beyond Borders, then that will mean a lot to me. That's better than an Oscar, and that's the truth."
