In continuing our discussion of resume databases I promised a focus on the major sites. So let's look at Yahoo! Careers and JobOptions today.
Before we begin, though, I want to introduce you to a site I find quite innovative. If you have ever entertained the notion of hiring a veteran, take a gander at militaryhire.com. Solely for prior military, this site claims 210,668 job postings and 26,642 registered job candidates (resumes). Their resume database offers a couple of unique features. Not only can you try this one out with 20 free resume searches and five free job postings, but the site's upgraded (paid) programs gives you an opportunity to view resumes prior to their being posted to the site and even lets you know which registered job seekers have viewed your advertised positions even though they have not applied for your posted job. What the free resume database access does not offer is very many ways to limit your search. You cannot sort by military rank, area code, security clearance, or date resume posted (you will view all those available in the last year.) In conducting my own search I found 143 resumes for veterans wanting an Accounting job in California, 5 Math teachers seeking work in Connecticut, 9 Programmers willing to work in Indiana; 266 candidates for New York State Customer Service positions. Another 88 people sought Human Resource positions in Pennsylvania.
Yahoo! Careers is a partnership with Headhunter.net, offering over 2 million resumes, this site also allows you a FREE opportunity to try it out. It is called a VIP Test Drive. You can search their database as many times as you wish, by category and keyword and be as specific as you need - experience and education levels, relocation acceptability, and location. The free results will indicate how many resumes are available. In order to read the resumes you would need to contract. Go To Page: 1 2
