A New Resolve

How many of us are making New Year's resolutions? OK, now that I have you laughing ... any resolve? I'm talking about a resolve inside your soul for a better life. A greater desire to live a full, rich, joyful life.

I know it is not the easiest thing in the world to do, what with pressure from family, friends, loved ones, etc. Finding a new resolve to move on in recovery, taking life on life's terms one day at a time, is difficult. Geez, I wish I had a sure-fire problem solver to give you but I don't. Heck, if YOU have one, please let me know about it. ;-)

Since this the "Recovery and Spirituality" section here on Suite 101, let me try and put the issue of a new resolve in that context. Each New Year's Day can be the start of something big in my life and yours, too. It can be a benchmark day for stopping additional compulsive behaviors in our lives and giving those over to God. It also can be a day where it is time to take inventory of some type and be ready to start a new year with a new resolve ... hopefully getting a new result in 2003 than 2002.

I wish my resolve in keeping "Recovery and Spirituality" a fresh place to visit stays strong. I pray my resolve to continue in recovery stays strong. I pray my resolve remains in tact to take life one day at a time and just keep this "inner child" save, protected and growing up.

What areas of your life do you wish to see improvement in 2003? Where does your resolve lie? How much of a role will your particular faith play a part in recovery?

Let me hear from you. Respond to this article and, hopefully, I can learn from you as much as I hope something I have written here helps stir a fresh, new resolve to keep on keepin' on.

This is, after all, just the start of a new year and just the start of another 24-hour period.

I look forward to hearing from you all. God bless and Happy New Year.

Grace and peace,

Joe
