The Letters

Yes I am a writer, at least that's what I tell myself. Then again, my Mercury is trined my Saturn so in astrological terms that says I'm a writer. And I've been working on and off with Suite101.com writing for four years. They must think I'm a writer too. You're reading this, and although I can't read your mind, I can only hope that you believe I am a writer. Guess what, it's your turn to be a writer as well.

What do you mean you can't write? Yes, you can and this writing is going to be good healing for you as well. You came here looking for ways to heal your mind, body, and soul not how to learn how to write. Yes, I know that. Trust me on this one.

You're going to sit down and write in any way you want to: computer, crayon, pink pen, blue colored pencil, whatever writing medium floats your boat, two letters. You can write more if you feel like it, but for now just write two. Don't worry about spelling, grammar, punctuation, or any writing rule. This is a letter for you, and emotion is much more important than if you break a few, or all, the proper writing rules.

The first letter is going to deal with someone or some event in your past where you were hurt. I want you to address the letter in anyway you want. If your father hurt you, then you can address the letter to Dad, Daddy, Father, Moron, Dumb S***, Mother F*****, Maggot, whatever name appeals to you most. Then explain in no uncertain terms in the letter how you refuse to take responsibility for their actions. My former mother-in-law had a great saying, "Guilt comes C.O.D." And if you feel guilty for someone else hurting you, you're accepting responsibility for their actions, and they get off free and clear. Why take their responsibility any longer? If they committed the sin, why must you live in hell for it? It's time to stop that merry-go-round. And you'll stop it with this letter. Explain to this person how they failed you, how they hurt you, and how you just flat out refuse to be their escape goat any longer. Put the responsibility back on their shoulders.

The second letter you write to yourself. In this letter tell yourself how proud you are of you for wanting to heal, how you're seeking out the teachers and tools that will allow that to happen, tell yourself how you want to live and what type of person you want to become, and how you feel about yourself now, and how you want to feel about yourself. Be kind to yourself, love yourself, and build yourself back up. No one on a white horse in shining armor is going to come in and do this. Healing takes work. Healing takes time. Healing takes tears. But most of all healing takes time. My metaphysical teacher says, "There is no McEnlightenemnt." Well, there's no "McHealing" either.
