Are You A Recovering Christian? Plus my interview with Jesus Christ.

For some of us, the Christian church is not a place of love, hope, faith, and peace. It can be a place of pure terror, and nightmares Stephen King wishes he could dream up.

Survivors of such an anti-Christian environment, even in the hallowed walls that we're told Jesus walks, often think they're the only ones. But they're not. Many people live with the fear of God's wrath because that's how they were taught.

Personally, I lived through many years of listening to how God loved me and if we made God mad, He'd make us pay, usually with our life. I learned about God through pure fear. Jesus was ready to kidnap us at any moment because he loved us so much he couldn't stand to be without us for another moment. I attened church six days a week, twice on Wednesday. Saturday was my only day away from the daily barrage of Christian hate I received. Somehow I kept a detachment from this church and reality. I think I may have my parents to thank for this even though they sent me to the school.

The church and school we attented is quite popular, I visited their web site and they have all the little red dots showing their locations. They're spreading like a plague. My mom loved the head pastor of the church, a soft spoken man that dressed well, didn't ask for money, believed in the love and faith of a righteous and just God. Scanning through the radio dials I'll sometimes hear his sermon and will, even today, pause and listen. He does suck you in. For a figure head of a church, he's just fine, and just listening to him you think this isn't so bad. It's once you get in, and you deal with the other pastors and teachers of the church then the harm begins.

Teachers thought I was demon possessed because I questioned the Bible. I didn't have faith so I wasn't a True Christian. We were taught a lot about the difference between plain Christians and True Christians. Many a student would worry if they were really saved or not. Because I didn't seem to fall under the heading of a True Christian I was told how I'd burn in hell for my sins and my lack of love for God. In turn, God hated me and Jesus pitited me. We were taught that anyone that wasn't a True Christian was Satan out to recruit us, even if they did go to church and lived a Christ-like life. We had to be wary of anyone that approached us.
