One Nation Under Who?

© Michael VanRanden

As I have been thinking about this wonderful Nation we live in, and the facts of our founding fathers, I wonder: On nation under who?

As somewhat a history buff, I have studied some of the early development of the world nations. One real interesting fact seems to emerge from the ancient world. As we study the rise and fall of nations, the primary theme seems, in my humble opinion, to be “So as we condone we become”.

As the nation of Israel forged forth out of the bondage of Egypt, God guided them. In the day He was a Pillar of Smoke and at night a Pillar of Fire. Israel wandered around for some years and entered into the Land of Canaan and made a new start. After some time, they decided they need a king. God was in that position and He was not too proud of Israel for their request. Never the less, God granted their request and gave them a king. It seems that through all this they would have learned a lesson in the Rules of Man.

After many kings, Israel lost its bid for statehood and was scattered. Through the centuries Man has battled over many things, one of the most obvious being religion. As the expansion of the world continued, the United States of America was born. Our founding fathers decided not to have a state religion because this was the backbone for much infighting among the people of their former nations. At the root of the matter, they decided to give everyone the right to worship as they pleased. No State Church was the rule. Understand that major conflicts between countries and individuals caused the infighting among many people. Just look at the crusades of the middle ages. The “Church” was going to kill anyone who disagreed with the “Church’s” form of religion. So we see our founding fathers choose no State Church. In fact, they wrote this into our constitution, go read it.

We end up in the year 2000 and find that God in whatever form you choose to believe in is stripped form our culture. It is ok for devil worship, homosexuals, and other non-believers in God to push their cause, but not the people of God. In the mid-60’s prayer was stripped form out schools and God’s people allowed this to escalate. Now the God fearing people of these United States find themselves in the minority. Oh, we claim to be a Christian Nation, On Nations Under God with liberty and justice for all. Bah humbug!
