The Amputation

Another fact of loosing a limb is the emotional trauma you will go through. This trauma can get real bad if your attitude is not in the right place. It is like loosing a loved one. It will take time to get over it. It will be hard, tough, and you will not want to go on at times. There is light at the end of the tunnel and I will be glad to guide you to this light.

We have stigmas as to the effect of limb loss and most of the time it is only in the mind. Your mind, my mind and the minds of the other people we are around. This is the first in a series of articles on the emotional, physical and mental process we must go through in the loss of a body part. You would do well to read them all. If you have a question or comment on any of the statements or if you have a story of your recovery or lack of, please get in contact with me.

A loss is a loss, there is nothing you can do about the loss, and there are things you can do about the recovery of that loss. We will deal more with the trauma and feelings (emotions) of the loss next time. Good luck and God bless you in the coming New Year: HAPPY NEW YEAR 2000!
