Doorway to ImaginationImagination is instrumental in developing other life skills. Readers have a level of compassion that sets them apart. Other school subjects are aided by a rich imagination. Obvious subjects are arts, literature, drama and history. Learning maths goes back to creative problem solving. A strong imagination finds ways to work out answers. It becomes a challenge to them. Even sports are assisted by using imagination. Your child will reach further, kick higher and run harder when they picture the goal. New cultures and societies are seen in their mind’s eye more fully when they have a reserve of images already there. This can only make your child’s life richer and more exciting. Each new experience is measured through their store of knowledge. This enhances their understanding even further. Imagination also improves self-expression. Your child can speak in terms already familiar to them through their reading and the workings of their mind. They can compare experiences and express concerns and fears in understandable language. There are other ways to engage your child’s imagination, but reading offers so many other benefits. Make time to crack open the door to their imagination and they won’t be able to help busting it down on their own.
