Happiness (I)

*Going out to buy a christmas tree-it smells like heaven. I know I shouldn't spend so much, but I can't help it. Besides-when I'm finished, it's a damned fine tree-better looking than any in the neighborhood, I'm sure-I'm quite proud.
*Sculpting faces with plasticene. I never knew how good I was, but I'm really good at it! Wow! I'm in The Zone! Should I make a Bust, or a puppet? Why a puppet? Why not?
*Listening to Old Time Radio and working jigsaw puzzles. I feel like an old lady, but I don't care. It's fun.
*Sitting on the ground, staring at the worms and spiders living their daily lives. How much longer will they live?
*Indulgent bath products
*Throwing on clothes hot from the dryer

I'm sure there are thousands more!"

We often lose ourselves in the past or in the future, in our societal roles, in our responsibilities, in the search for status or power - in short, the world of appearances. While these things can help us to be happy, such happiness is linked to their continued existence. Once they are gone, so is our good feeling. Joy and well-being is often close to home, while we work so hard to find it elsewhere, or just refuse to find it at all. Finding one's little pleasures is often a good cure for psychological affliction as well.

How about you ? What are your little pleasures in life ?
