Change is GoodI hope everybody out there had a happy Thanksgiving and is managing to get their Christmas shopping done early without getting stampeded by roving herds of "mall rats." I'm sure all you repeat visitors to my site out there noticed the recent change in the look and layout of Suite101.com. Personally, I like it, and I think the new little cartoon mascot guy is pretty cute. The "change bug" caught me this month, and I decided to cull the herd of links in my list. I had collected about 90 links to ranching-related Web sites, and that makes for a LONG list that takes a long time to open on a Web browser, and takes even longer to read. So I removed quite a few links from my main list of links. But do not despair; they're not really gone. I just moved them. You'll notice under most of the link category lists, there are "More" links -- "More Cattle Sites," "More Real Estate Sites," etc. I simply added more pages to my topic and moved the links there. So if you don't find what you're looking for in the main lists of links, just click on the "More" pages. Other than the "More" pages I've added to my topic, the only link I'll discuss this month is to a page at the Texas State Department of Agriculture's site. As sort of a prelude to my January article, which will be on feedlots, I want to recommend the Texas Department of Agriculture's "Hay Hotline" page at http://www.agr.state.tx.us/producer_info... This page has links to folks who have pastures for lease in Texas and in other states. There are also a few miscellaneous links regarding hay and feed. It's hard to be humble when you're from Texas, and it's even harder to be humble about your state's ag department's Web site when it's as nice as this one. While you're at the site, check out some of its other features, like area weather and market updates, farm safety issues and information on the various state programs the department has going on.
