Dogs and BoysWhat could be more cliche? A boy and his dog. My family has two dogs and now we are in the process of aquiring two more. We are getting them (hopefully) through the Keeshond Rescue Railroad. This means that we have a series of applications and interview visits to go through before being accepted. My boys are extremely excited about potentially getting two more dogs. Nathanial says that if our references dont check out that we need to get rid of those friends and get different ones!! Since the dogs are rescues, I feel it is necessary to explain to them how and why the dogs are looking for homes. Not all dogs live a pampered existence and most certainly not all dogs are as well loved as ours are. It is difficult for the boys to grasp anyone either not wanting or hurting an animal and they feel like everyone should just hurry and give the dogs to us so we can care for them. I have recently found out that one of them may have a health issue and I am torn about it. I do still want the dog but if it is a life threatening issue then would it be the right thing to introduce a dog to the boys and have it not be with us long? I do think that everything will be all right in the end but we have already met this little ball of fluff and sheesh, they are already talking about who's side of the bed she will be sleeping on. Dogs, like kids just hope that you love them and would do anything for you. I just hope that we can bring two more into the fold.
