A Few Simple WordsYou may or may not remember some of the experiences we have had with the local dentist? Round and round we went and he insisted that children dont need anesthetic and that they only cry because their mother's can hear them. Since getting insurance last week, I had a select few dentists that were on the plan and spent a few days trying to find one that seemed at least able to talk to children without sounding condescending-a lot harder than you would think. Just when I thought we would be traveling an hour to a pediatric dentist, someone mentioned a local dental group that I had not heard of but was amazingly listed on my paperwork. To make a long story short, we went, he was awesome and my son is on his way to getting his two teeth fixed by someone who makes him feel confident and safe. When Nathanial came out of the office, he said that he felt so proud of himself and that was all that I needed to hear. I was standing up to the old dentist and getting a lot of flack from other parents who used him. They were saying that *everyone* uses Dr. so and so and that I needed to get a grip. I refused to believe that a child of 6 should fear the dentist and that it wouldnt hurt for the dentist to use a few simple words to make a little kid feed confident. Thats my rant for today and if you are ever in the Central NY area, I will give you the name of our new dentist.
