The Hair Thing

Sigh..

Today, the boys were each sitting in a chair in the store, listeneing to the customer chit chat when one of the men came up to me and asked if they were my children. When I replied that they were, he said that I should have had boys!

"But they are both boys!" I told him.

"Well, I didnt know because their hair is so long." Was his reply.

I don't understand why something so minor (long hair) seems to be completely disconcerting to people who don't know us. Even though my boys look *boyish* to me, they often fool others.

My theory is that it is their hair and if they want it cut then I will cut it. They have tidy bangs and sides and that is as far as it goes for me.

Interesting how they have reacted to it over the years as well. They simply say that boys can have long hair too. The children seem to accept this comment and move on to important things like playing but the adults? Well, they try to convince them that their hair needs cutting. So far, adult peer pressure hasn't worked.

LOL
