Halloween Costume or Science Experiment??

NOw is the time to start looking around for a costume for the big night. I asked my son what he wanted to be this year. The last two years he opted for a fake fur cow costume that I have to admit was pretty soft and comfy. I dont blame him...

This year, however, he has decided that he wants to be a frog. Not that a frog is all that hard to make, but NOW he insists that his little brother be a tadpole. I am at a loss how to pull this off. I guess you can blame me and homeschooling for this one. We are currently studying the life cycles of animals and he has a particularly exciting frog book that has amazing photos and text. We have read that book more times than I care to tell you but suffice it to say that I actually had a Red-eyed tree frog dream one night.

We are attending two town parties in liew of the more traditional trick or treating from door to door. I am actually relieved. I dont think there would be much of a problem in this tiny town, but with houses so far apart that walking would be out of the question, and not really thrilled with the idea of having two bags of candy to dispose of, I am glad there will be an option that we are all happy with.

I have been seeing that the purchased costumes are out. What scary things the kids can choose to be this year.. I am particularly disgusted with the Star Wars idea. Why is that horrid devil-skull guy the main focal point of the entire cast? Isnt there anyone ELSE in the movie? Why is it necessary to have this guy in a size 18 months? What is up with THAT??!!

:::sigh:::

Well I am off to find a pattern for a tadpole and frog duo..

No skull-death-guy for us this year..

See you all next week!

Amy and the boys.

This will be my son's first Halloween, and since we called him "Tad" before we discovered he was a boy and picked his name, we think it would be appropriate for him to be a tadpole for Halloween. Were ...

Luckily for me, my son isn't old enough to choose his own costume - he's 1. This year he is going to be Steve from Blue's Clues and that means all I have to make him is a green shirt and a handy-dandy ...
