Look Ma, Isnt He Cute?

We are sick. All of us have fever, stuffy heads and a cough. Although I feel yukky, I have seen such sweet stuff over the past three days, that I have to share.

The baby got ill first. He wails at night and won't be put down all day. Once, he dropped off to sleep and I found his big brother standing next to the bed looking down at him. He motioned for me to come closer and whispered "Look Mom, the sun shining on him makes his hair look like gold." Even though Nathanial was tired and feeling sick himself, he noticed something in his brother that he felt he had to share.

My son's both enjoy time with me alone, but often they take each other's hand and wander into another room to play imaginary games and spend time just playing in that imaginary world that children create and grown ups long for.

I once asked Nathanial what kind of things he and Gabriel did when they were in the toy room. He said " we just play with each other." Not fight over the biggest toy or loudest car or argue who has the strongest fighting warrier toy, but just play.

The newest game they have made up is a Ready, Set, Go game. Crouching down, Nathanial says, Ready...bums go in the air and its Set...then, when they both cant stand the suspence any longer.. its GO!! which is the only word the baby can say..:-)

Two little forms run through the house, one long and lean, the other chunky and toddling but running nonetheless. Big brother(or Brov) always lets the baby start first then, unable to run that slowly, carefully dodges around the baby (saying "watch out Gaby!")and runs to the couch. There is no winner in this game. The fun is in the running and the raising of arms and clapping overhead at the finish-line-couch.

Like two peas in a pod, the boys snack together, sit in the same chair together and play together. Even when the neighboring boy comes to play with Nathanial, Gabriel is invited in to be the *truck guy* or *the fetcher* as in *oops! Missed the ball, Gabriel do you want to go get it?*

There doesnt seem to be much sibling rivalry between them yet. May be there won't be. I do know that they are each other's best buddies and it's really clear that their first choice in playmates is one another.
