Four times a year, volunteer medical professionals, accompanied by interested lay travelers, visit villages in the Amazon Rainforest. Each visit lasts two weeks, in which they provide medical assistance. They teach and learn from the Shamans of the villages. The organization is non-profit.

The lives and culture of the natives have started to erode, caused by civilized influences. A lot now speak Spanish instead of their native languages and many have abandoned their spirtual and custom beliefs. They now don't believe in their Shamans and so now have no kind of medical aid. Many can simply not afford it. These health products help greatly. The Natives can now get the medical help and attention that they need. The teams teach the Shamans about safe waste removal, water supply management, nutrition, medical and dental care, while the Shamans share the tradition of healing with plants.

Each of the groups that go usually consist of around 20 people. Half are medical professionals while the other half usually just come to observe. Half of the time there is dedicated to helping the natives while the other half is used to discover the Amazon. The travelers can enjoy things such as hiking, camping, swimming with Dolphins and other various activities.

You can actually join on of these trips! The cost is usually around $2,395 which is tax deductible. Phyicians, nurses, dental personnel, and dental hygenists are highly encouraged to attend. You can hold fund raisers to earn the money for these trips if you can not afford it on your own. Clubs, Churches and local events will usually gladly help if explained why the money is needed.
