Rhyming Rabbits & Rodents & More - Part II

legs all curled,
But those people didn't feed me right,
and my tummy got all pained and tight,
Till mom and dad rescued me, and now I attempt to eat whatever I see.

Flying around my den I run,
I hop and skip and jump into more fun,
There are toys galore strewn over the floor, but I manage to always find more.
I'm loved, I'm happy and I eat lots of hay,

PIP, THE PD POET
Prairie dogs lead a rich, full social life in their dog towns, but few take the time to share with their human neighbors some of the small pleasures of the pdog's lifestyle. In his "Prairie Dog Picnic" Pip, a black-tailed domesticated prairie dog (see photo), graciously welcomes us in to enjoy the fun:

in grass that is tender and tall.
They jump and they jig, some even dig,
while others do nothing at all.

They kiss and they pat, sometimes a small spat.

from what we so lovingly call a PD.
In this creature's world or under God's Sun
is prairie dogs shooting humans with guns.

They give and they give while humans just take.
Oh wouldn't it be great to have their own state,
in which to live, love and be free,
but this only happens in dreams for PDs.

so I set out to save a life and find my girl a home.

I searched everywhere I'd ever dare, no hope was left in sight,
so home we went, a day now spent it was now late at night.
On the porch we sat and I was down, my heart so full of pain.
My grandpa comes home, sees the puppy's eyes and
