Quilted and Pieced Christmas Gift Bags

casing across the top by first turning back the two open sides slanting at the top about two inches down, stitch down. Then run a 1/4 inch line of stitching across the entire top.

Press under at the line of stitching, then fold over the top about 1 inch and stitch the casing in place.

Now stitch closed the remaining side and bottom. Reinforce at the beginning and end of the seam with a few extra stitches.

Run a tie through the casing. I used Christmas ribbon. Your little turn back will help prevent fraying on the openings.

These pieced bags can be made with quilt blocks you have left over from a big quilt for other gift giving throughout the year.
