Christmas Gifts for Quilters

What is more fun than browsing through a QUILT SHOP? It's just about my favorite way to spend an hour or two. This is only a fraction of the items at FABRIC FAIR, a shop here in Seward. Now, couldn't you just spend a few hours there and start your Christmas shopping?

A couple of years ago I made up a Christmas shopping gift list for quilters for the December article here on Suite 101. Maybe it's time to add a few more items to consider as gifts for family, friends, or - - - even yourself.

Quilt Books
Cotton Candy Quilts- Mary Mashuta 2001, C&T Publishing
101 Nine Patch Quilts - Marti Michell 2000, American School of Needlework
Mariner's Compass Quilts- Judy Mathieson 1995, American School of Needlework
Marsha McCloskey's Block Party - 1998 (Publisher?)
McCalls Vintage Quilts - not a book, but I like this magazine very much

Quilting Tools
Wooden iron - small wood shape to crease a seam or two.
Olfa circle cutter
Olfa Ergonomic rotary cutter - easier on the hand and wrist
Rotary Blade Sharpener - I find this item very useful
O weights - help keep fabric from sliding away
Clover min-iron with stand - This tiny iron is handy for pressing seams but watch out! that little thing gets HOT.
Folding seam ripper (no top needed)
Marking pencils (I saw a pkg of 2 chalk pencils, white and silver)
Bias bars
Collectible needle packet by Dritz - great covers

Miscellaneous
1/4 inch seam foot (Put this at the top of your list if you don't have this foot)
Walking foot/even feed foot (another item for the top of the list)
Gift Certificate to a quilt shop
Omnigrid Travel Set (8 x 11 mat and 3 sizes of rulers, great to "take along")
Coordinating FQs
Magnetic pin holder
Bobbin saver
Sliding Stencils (new)
Current copy of favorite quilt magazine or a subscription

There is a broad range of prices in the above list. Some items are inexpensive ($1.00-$5.00) and others range to $25.00 and above. Any questions? If you are not near a quilt shop, most of these items can be found on the internet.

And for YOURSELF - That new sewing machine you've been wanting for so long. Several companies have special quilting and embroidery models that are to die for!!!
