Let's put your piecing skills to work for this star block made up of 3 inch squares and half square triangles. The block has been known by several names but we'll make it of Christmas colors and call it a Christmas Star. I used two of this block for a small table runner. I might add that my blocks are actually dark red, dark green with white, but the green is showing up as BLUE! Needed for one block for rotary cutting:
1 strip 3 inches wide red WOF 1 strip 3 inches wide white WOF Border:

Pellon 12 in square for one block Thread neutral shade Cut the 3 inch strips into 3 inch squares. You will need 12 green squares, 8 red squares and 8 white squares. You will use
these squares as follows:
4 red and 4 green sewn together as halfsquare triangles 4 white and 4 green sewn together as halfsquare triangles 4 red and 4 white sewn together as halfsquare triangles To make halfsquare triangles, place a red and a green square right sides together. Draw a diagonal line corner to corner on the wrong side of one of the squares. Stitch on this line. Cut 1/4 inch from the line and toss the small pieces. Press seam to the dark side. Repeat for the remaining halfsquare triangles. Carefully lay out the corner green squares and the units you have just made, being sure the triangles are oriented in the right direction.

Sew the first two blocks in the first row together, then the next two in the first row. Repeat for the remaining three rows. Press the first row of pairs one way, and the second row of pairs the other and on to the 3rd same as the first and the 4th row same as the second.
