Quilted Tote
Form the bottom of the tote: Grasp a bottom corner and align the bottom seam with the side seam. (This will form an "A" shape.) Measure across the "A" about four inches, or as wide as you want the bottom, and stitch across. See photo. Cut this piece off. Repeat on the other side. Turn the bag inside out. Lining: Repeat pocket directions if you want a pocket on the inside of the bag. Sew around 3 sides of the lining fabric. Make the bottom as above. Trim. Do not turn. Complete tote: Place the lining inside the tote. Fold in the top of the outer shell, and the lining, 1/2 inch (folds facing each other.) Pin lining and shell together around bag. Place ends of handles between lining and outer shell, one handle on each side. Pin in place. Stitch around top of bag through outer shell and lining, catching end of handles in stitching. Stitch again 1/4 inch away at least once to reinforce top. And you are done! A handy tote bag to carry books to the library, notes to a meeting, sewing to quilt guild. I've made several for family members. Hope you enjoy using yours. Do you have a quick easy to make item we could add to these pages? Write to me and we'll see what we can do.
