Quilt Inspiration

Browsing in your favorite fabric store will surely bring on a rush of inspiration. Blues, greens, yellows, red, purples, all shades and combinations, mottles, marbles, beautiful flowered prints with colors ready for you to pull out and combine for a quilt. Pastels for baby, sports prints for that college bound nephew. A walk down the quilt book aisle will overwhelm you with ideas. Quilt book publishers usually put a prime example of the contents on the cover.
Last fall (2002) Better Homes and Gardens published a special collector's edition "Century of Quilts" celebrating 100 years of quilt patterns in their various magazines. I read that magazine through and through, what a mountain of inspiration. And the cover! Well, I looked for that very fabric for several weeks and finally found the reproduction fabric on the Internet.
I haven't made the quilt yet, I did make up a sample block. Everything, pattern and fabric, is ready to go whenever I get inspired to get at the sewing machine!

If you feel drained of ideas for your next quilt, give these suggestions a try. You will see so many possibilities you will be hard put to settle on just one.

Happy Quilting!
