Punk History on the Internet

The internet continues to be a great source for all the punk historians out there. I’m going to share some great sites with you, and every one of them will help fill in the gaps in your historical accounts of punk rock.

1)Punk Information

This site is huge! The design is nothing spectacular, and you won’t find a lot of cool punk graphics to drool over. But, I assure you, this site is packed to the seams with discography information. Need to see if you are missing a record from one of your favorite bands? Curious about a band’s recorded output? This is the place to start. I have to give Willy credit for compiling an exhaustive listing.

2)The Mod Pop Punk Archives

Into The Jam? The Buzzcocks? The Boys? This is the site for you. Loads of discography information on all your favorite “old school” punk bands, and tons of photos and biography information. You’ll find picture sleeves of just about every record on the site, and I’ll tell you, that in itself could have you browsing this site for days.

3)Break My Face

http://www.breakmyface.com

This is the site for all you Killed By Death and Bloodstains junkies out there. You’ll find all kinds of info- discographies, bios, photos of all your favorite KBD bands like, The Pagans, Village Pistols, Weirdos, The Queers, etc, etc. It also boasts a nice design that clings heavily to that older punk aesthetic so many of us love.

4)Blank Generation

http://www.blankgeneration.com

This is a pretty interesting site geared towards the rock ‘n roll enthusiasts out there. Heavy focus on newer releases by bands like The Stitches, Zodiac Killers, and Bantam Rooster. The design is easy on the eyes with a nice day glow, Sex Pistols “Never Mind...” influence. Also features columns by Icki (aka Mark Murmann) of Sty zine fame.

5)Hyped To Death

http://www.hyped2death.com

Looking for some really rare recordings of some band you heard about from your friend’s cousin’s friend? Well, Hyped to Death is the place to find it! This site features a huge selection of Cd mixes from old and rare 45’s that you can purchase for a super reasonable rate.

I hope this helps in your crusade for punk knowledge.
