I also consider geographic region in this category. I was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, and I’ve always been on the hunt for the records of bands that have come from that area. Therefore, I might consider The Baloneyheads 7”, which is extremely rare and from the area, a little more important to me than a similar recording by a band from another region of the country or world. Again, this is a small factor and the last thing I consider when listening to a punk record.

I hope this article gave you an idea of how I view the music that I love, how I consider the importance of certain bands and movements within the punk community, and how I have created my own personal measuring scale for what’s important to me. Keep this in mind while reading any reviews I may write in the future, and keep your eye out for those treasures you have yet to discover.
