I was thinking on how to use rubberstamping more with my crazy quilting, then I realized how many rubber stamps have really nice, detailed outlined images!!
I have a few pictures up for you to see- the girl was done with the small Russian Punch from Bernadine, as was the purple and gold motif. The leaves were done with the medium Russian Punch from Bernadine, using 2 strands of thread. I am not sure what threads I used, as all my things are in PA. I just used what I had on hand- I believe this is a Caron thread, there were 8 strands, and it was variegated.

Here are a few places to look for some good rubberstamps.
http://www.danalen.com/index.html D'Analen Rubber Art Designs. Dana has her own line of unmounted stamps. Look in 'products' then 'unmounted rubber stamps'. There is a beautiful Hibiscus in the floral section, there is also a Gingko leaf available- I am sure you will find many things!
For Art Nouveau type stamps, check this out! http://www.stampzia.com/catalog.htm WOW! There are some good words that you could punch, also.
http://www.red-castle.com/ look here- http://www.red-castle.com/sheets/toc_gib... I can just picture these Gibson girls with punched hats, and silk ribbon flowing!
Also, http://www.stampingground.com/catalog.htm There is nothing to say. Words couldn't cover it!
I am not affliated with any of the above. I simply asked their permission to post links to their sites. If any of you use rubberstamps with your punching, please let me know!
Think of the possiblities, of punching the entire design, or part of it- using the smallest Russian punchneedle, you can get such detail!
Also, you can use the rubberstamps to stamp faded images in the background, then punch a main design over them. There are many landscape stamps out nowadays- imagine stamping a cabin scene, complete with a stream running by- punch an evergreen tree in, take fabric markers and paint the rest of the landscape, then cut it out, mount on thin cardboard folded over, and Voila! A Christmas card!
You could also do the above on a 5 inch patch and use in a crazy quilt block, or a mini purse! Let your imagination run wild, and try what you see!!
Have fun punchin'! Lib
