My most recent column about the millennium, Armageddon and Biblical prophecy stirred up a beehive of interesting thoughts in my mind. Regardless of our individual beliefs, we can see for ourselves that the face of the earth and the climatic conditions are changing.
Predictions of cataclysmic events (earthquakes, volcanoes, floods) from the times of the Bible to Nostradamus to modern prophets indicate that warning of impending events is an ongoing tradition in many cultures. Already, dormant volcanoes such as Sicily's Mount Etna are awakening. Tornadoes are increasing, hurricanes are becoming more violent and more frequent, and destructive earthquakes are making unstable land masses tremble.
Millennium Matters states: "There are many paths to TRUTH but at the end they all meet." If we follow any of these paths, we can't help but see the validity of this statement. The many paths of prophecy all lead to the same conclusion: Changes are coming.
With the earth and the climate in a continual state of flux, other issues also begin to change. Environmental, personal and spiritual modification are the order of the day.
With facilities such as TV and the Internet, people are becoming more aware of the damage being done to the earth by careless use of its resources and poor management of the environment. Protection agencies and antipollution commissions are fighting against this thoughtless destruction.
As people become more aware of the diminishing wild lands, there's a growing desire to move away from the noise and pollution of the city. Many people are moving back to the land where it's a simple matter to commune with nature and with God.
Spiritual beliefs are also changing. Organized religion, in many cases, has been replaced by more personal beliefs and new age ideas. Things like meditation, mysticism and aboriginal spiritualism are becoming more popular.
There are many resources on the Internet, on TV and in the press that have facilities that keep track of environmental and climatic conditions such as extreme weather, earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes and volcanic action. Perhaps, with close monitoring, better management of environmental issues and a greater spiritual awareness, much of the cataclysmic upheaval might be postponed or even prevented entirely. Think of these dire predictions as timely warnings. Then do what you can to remedy matters in your corner of the world.
