He awakens in the night. It seems he has not been asleep very
long. An evil aura seems to permeate the room. He is afraid,
very afraid. "Run! Get out of here!" his mind tells him. He
tries. He can't move. He is paralyzed!
The evil presence grows stronger. Perhaps he sees a hooded figure kneeling or bending over his bed. Sometimes the figure climbs on the bed. He can feel the mattress sag. The hooded being may even touch him, straddle him. There's pressure on his chest and it's hard to breathe. Cold hands circle his throat, try to strangle him. Sometimes there is even a sexual attack. He feels himself being dragged from his body, finds himself floating near the ceiling. He looks down at his supine figure lying on the bed. Then he may float gently across the room and out through the wall, or hurtle through space at break neck speed. Consciousness leaves his body. When next he becomes aware of where he is, he may be in an alien setting, beset by bright lights and strange beings with big, dark eyes. He senses that they are doing something to his body, but he can neither tell what is going on nor move to stop it. Or, he may wake up back in his bed. Morning has come, and the night before seems all a dream. Except for a weird soreness and stiffness in some of his muscles, or maybe a few drops of unexplainable blood on his pillow. A strange scenario? Perhaps. But it is something experienced by many people. As they realize that they are not alone, more and more people are coming forward to admit to something strange happening to them in the night. Evil presences. Paralysis. Out of Body Experiences (OBEs.) One explanation is a visit from the psychic world. Demons, incubi, succubi. Another possible visitor is said to be the "Old Hag." She is often accused of sexual attacks on sleeping males, and this is where we get the term "hag-ridden." These stories are the stuff of myths and legends. These same tales, with varying themes, are told in countries around the world. But in the past few years, yet another possibility has come into play. Alien abduction. This would explain the feeling that a person has left his bed, his room, his home. The alien settings and creatures. The sensation of "something" or "someone" examining the body. In an article entitled "52 signs of Being Abducted" the following are mentioned: Have been paralyzed in your bed with a being in the room.
