Prophecies of the Hopi

© Florence Cardinal

As far back as man can remember, there have been prophets and prophecies. No doubt the cave men also had prophets, even if it was something as simple as watching the colors of the sunset in the cloudless sky and remarking, "It's going to rain tomorrow."

The Bible, Nostradamus, Edgar Cayce, all foretold what they saw ahead for mankind. Many Native American tribes also have seers who have looked into the future. Much of this knowledge has been passed down from Elder to Elder for centuries.

CHIEF DAN EVEHEMA
Chief Dan Evehema, Eldest of the Hopi Elders and Hopi Spiritual Leader, says many of the prophecies given to them by early prophets have already been fulfilled.

1. The arrival of people of other races with different ways.
2. A house of glass on the eastern shore. (The U.N. building?)
3. Moving iron houses.
4. Horseless carriages.
5. Men talking through cobwebs (wires.)
6. Men talking through space.
7. The extreme changes in manner of dress.

Other prophecies are being fulfilled today. Children are becoming the enemies of their parents. Traditional ways and Native languages are being ignored and forgotten. Intermarriage with other tribes and other races is weakening the Native heritage.

But other prophecies are yet to be fulfilled. The Hopi Elder speaks of a coming battle between good and evil, very similar to the Biblical reference to Armageddon. Predictions of earth changes brought about by earthquakes, hurricanes and tornadoes are all part of the ancient warnings.

FRANK WATERS
Frank Waters, author of The Book of the Hopi, also mentions World War III, a war which has its beginnings in the oldest countries - China, India, and the Middle East. He sees devastation by atomic bomb and radioactivity as we emerge into a much altered future world.

WHITE FEATHER
Both Frank Water and Hopi Chief White Feathermention a strange occurrence: the removal of a Kachina's mask during a ceremonial dance before the uninitiated. This will supposedly bring to an end all Hopi ceremonies and faith for some time. When the faith and ceremonies resume, it will indicate the start of a new cycle for the Hopi people.

White Feather is a Hopi of the ancient Bear Clan and has traveled all over this land learning the sacred paths and the sacred wisdom of the Hopi. He prophesies the end of the world as we know it and an emergence into a new world.

He gives nine signs. All have now been fulfilled from the First Sign, the coming of white-skinned men who struck their enemies with thunder (guns), to the Ninth Sign, the crashing to earth of a dwelling place in the sky that appeared as a blue

I'm glad you enjoyed my article. I enjoy writing about prophecy of all sorts but I feel a special affinity to the Native beliefs, maybe because my husband was Native. ...
