The Bible Codes - Part 2

© Florence Cardinal

In my article of November 24, I wrote about the controversy brought to public attention by the publication of two books, Bible Codes by Michael Drosnin and Cracking the Bible code by Jeffrey Satinover. This controversy concerns the supposed existence of a hidden Code in the words of the Bible. After reading my previous article, a reader wrote to me and asked a pertinent question, one that I had already asked myself.

God, in the same Holy Bible, assures us that He is a loving God, a compassionate God, a God that wants only what is best for his people. Why, then, would this loving God hide warnings about death and disasters within His Holy Word? Why wouldn't He, instead, write them within the text of the Good Book so the people of the world might attempt to avoid, or at least lessen, these dire tragedies?

It's probable that, so deeply hidden are these warnings, that even people with the best of educations would fail to notice them. Insignificant groupings of letters set at remote intervals are not easily discernible. Many readers of the Bible have only grade school educations, others even less. It would take a miracle for these people to notice, let alone decode these hidden messages.

To add to the confusion, the Bible has been translated into almost every language in the world. Are we to believe that this distinctive Code exists in all languages? From what I have gathered from my research, the Code was discovered in the Torah in its original Hebrew language, and that it exists only there.

There is, however, an increasing body of evidence that says the Bible Code does exist. This Bible Code was discovered several decades ago by Rabbi Michael Weissmandel, but only recently, with the publication of the books by Drosnin and Satinover, has the discovery been brought to public notice.

Harold Gans, retired Senior Cryptologic Mathematician with the United States Department of Defense, vouches for the existence of the Code.

"The phenomenon of hidden Codes in the Bible is real," Gans states in a Press Release. "Its implications should not be minimized."

Harold Gans is now the Director of Research for Aish HaTorah, a non-profit Jewish education group whose aim is to lead the Jewish people back to Judaism. The mystery of the Bible Codes is included in their Seminar.

Doron Witztum, a Jerusalem Physicist, has spent twelve years researching the Codes in the Torah. He believes that the repercussions of this discovery will touch on the very nature of human existence.

and for letting me know I had lost the last part of my article. This is indeed an important discovery, and, as I said in the last sentence of my article, I'm sure there is still much to be discovered ...
