Susan Meier is the author of over 28 Silhouette Romance novels. One of America's most beloved romance writers, her Silhouette book Bringing Up Babies, from the Brewster Baby Boom series was a nominee for a Romantic Times Reviewers' Choice Award. She has graciously agreed to be interviewed, as follows: SQ: What is your most recently published book and what motivated you to create it? SM: Prince Baby, a Silhouette Romance, is my September release. It's the second book in a three-book series, Bryant Baby Bonanza. Book one, Baby Before Business was a June release. Book three Snowbound Baby is a November release. I wrote this series primarily because I wanted to explore what happens to kids when they lose their parents. The stories take place fifteen years after the Bryant brothers' parents die, when all three brothers are adults dealing with mistakes they made as teenagers because they didn't have the guidance of parents. I also explore how far people will go to make up for mistakes and how falling in love impacts a person's other life choices. All in all it was a lot of fun to write because the stories are a combination of romance and humor and all three are very touching. Very special. SQ: What is the book's central plot? SM: Prince Baby is a very funny story about a commoner who marries a princess after a whirlwind courtship and then loses her to the responsibilities she has to her country. When she discovers she's pregnant and has the baby in his hometown, he tries not to fall in love again -- because he doesn't want to be swallowed up by her world and end up waving to his subjects from a carriage. But it seems his hormones, his town and his love for his new son all conspire against him. The story is a sort of fairytale with great elements like a wicked king / father and a next door neighbor who acts like a fairy god mother. It's just a lot of fun! SQ: Has your publisher (Harlequin) contracted you to produce future books and if so, can you describe them? SM: I have 3 more books for Silhouette Romance. They'll be a miniseries that revolves around three children of a mayor desperately trying to be reelected. The mini-series title is The Cupid Campaign. My poor mayor's three children all get involved in controversial romances that threaten his small town campaign.
