His Holiness in Black

The Nile was floating lazy below the garden of the Swedish Embassy. Marriott's elegant and luxury dinner cruise ship between us and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs skyscraper on the other Nile bank. "International" was a keyword at the garden party, and I had just talked to the president of the American University who hoped to travel into the desert when a man in long black dress and black beard suddenly came over.

He did not only have a long dress down to his black shoes and a black beard. On top of his head was a black cap as well.

It was more persons dressed like this in Egypt, as I still remember one time one of my guests saw a similar dressed and asked: "Is that one of the fundamentalists?" Had to answer that I did not know about the fundamentalist part, but knew for sure he was a Christian monk...

The man in black on a Swedish lawn by the Nile was not just any monk - he was Bishop Thomas.
More exactly; Bishop of the Coptic Orthodox Bishopric El Quossia & Mair in Assiut. Thinking about it - if it had not been for the Winged Travel Consultant I mentioned before, Bishop Thomas would not have been bishop for one of the most important places in Christianity.

I will come back to His Holiness Bishop Thomas as I have kept you waiting a long time before I could tell you what the White House was doing in the Egyptian Desert. Hoping it was worth it to wait until the real 2nd millennium came, before I continued the article "From Monasticism to White House" which left you all with a large and white question mark.

Anybody guessed what the Holy Family saw on their way to the Nile from Wadi Natron?

Following was the only part I told you in last article:
"Then suddenly one morning something unbelievable rose in east together with the sun. It was the White House - house...".

First: There never lived any Pharaohs in Ancient Egypt.

Reason for this is that the word "Pharaoh" is not an Egyptian title, but comes from the Biblical transcription of the Ancient Egyptian title: Per-e-o.

Meaning?

Directly translated it mean "Large House", or "White House".

"White" most likely used as the walls around Per-e-o's palace in early Old Kingdom was white!
