We started to get the picture: - not only passports translated here...

The evening came and nothing could keep us away from a stroll at the harbor's promenade.

Here people minded their coffee shops and sales tables in a friendly way. Gone where the tourist hassle one often meet in other countries. Let's admit it, a small population combined with distribution of oil revenues makes it possible to relax...

The atmosphere was "European" seasoned with an unmistakable "moonlight mood" of North Africa which reflects in its people and cities. Even the Mediterranean Sea seem more mysterious here where she kiss the shores of Africa.

Two girls where running the coffee shop we were sitting - and the man handling the water pipes was under direct order of the girls. Unlike most Arabic cultures, he didn't seem to mind being ruled by two strong and beautiful girls.

Libyan - but not what I expected at least! First it's room after room with Roman and Greek culture and artifacts. Along with all this unbelievable amount of unknown treasures one will find extremely well preserved Roman mosaics. I will not try to explain the beauty, it will be enough to say that one tend to freeze in front of all this like other famous pillars of salt. In the beginning you can't believe it, as here is Greek and Roman statues I had never seen in any publications before. More artwork along with models and photos of all the temples along the Libyan coast.

My friend Thomas who is of Greek-Egyptian origin are only able to say that this is equal to find one of the Giza pyramids in Athens.

Let's make a short list:
The famous Greek city of Cyrene was founded in Libya in 631 BC.
Sabratah has one of the most intact ancient theatre with three floors still standing.
