Pound-for-pound is a boxing designation meaning the best boxer regardless of weight. Here are 10 of the best pound-for-pound boxers in the world. 1. Sugar Shane Mosley - He was untouchable when he was the 135-pound lightweight champ, but nobody thought he could go up 2 weight classes to 147 pounds and beat the likes of Oscar de la Hoya. 2. Felix Trinidad - It’s hard to rank Tito Trinidad over de la Hoya, since Oscar had 9 rounds to Trinidad’s 3. However, Trinidad’s devastating KO of Fernando Vargas is enough reason to make Tito number 2. 3. Floyd Mayweather - The ease that Mayweather beat Diego Corrales with was impressive—he dropped Corrales 5 times, even though Corrales had never been off his feet, before KO-ing the former undefeated champion in the 10th round. 4. Oscar de la Hoya --- No matter what Don King’s judges said, Oscar beat everyone except Mosley. Now if Oscar would take his boxing career as seriously as he does his singing career, he could have a dandy of a rematch with Mosley. 5. Lennox Lewis - He beats everyone so easily, and is clearly the best big man since Riddick Bowe. If Lewis would fight against Mike Tyson, then he could retire as one of the best heavyweight champions of all time. 6. Roy Jones Jr. - Jones Jr. earns a lower rating because of his reluctance to fight. Whether he is afraid or picky, he has still managed to gain a reputation as a strong pound-for-pound boxer. 7. Ricardo Lopez - One of the best under-120-pounds fighters. He’s dominated the 108-pound class and would do the same in other classes. Lopez is the best fighter nobody has ever heard of. 8. Bernard Hopkins -- Middleweight champ Hopkins has beat everybody except Roy Jones Jr., and that was by a close decision 8 years ago. 9. Kostya Tszyu -- He’s the best of three 140-pound champions. He is too much for Sharmba Mitchell and Zab Judah. 10. Erik Morales - Even thought Morales was given a close gift decision over Marco Antonio Barrera, Morrales is a better fighter than he showed in that fight. Go To Page: 1
