The Extreme Bottom Line

This being my first column here, I have decided to tell you a little bit about myself. I have been a wrestling fan for many years now but moreso a fan of indy wrestling since about November of 1997. Now you make think that is not very long but it is long enough for me to grasp a firm understanding of the Independents.

But my history in independents goes farther back then that, back to my youth living near Portland, Oregon. I attended many of Sandy and Art Barr's Portland Wrestling shows in the early and mid 80's, when I was nothing more than a child. I love Portland wrestling. To me it was the big time. Living in the country, I knew very little of the WWF other than seeing it on fuzzy Channel 12 every Saturday night. They never came to Portland, so I settled for what I had.

Portland Wrestling folded in the late 80's and I drifted away from the indys. Until now. I am deeply embedded into Extreme Canadian Championship Wrestling, in Vancouver, BC Canada. A great up and coming fed just recently aligned with the National Wrestling Association (NWA). In fact in late July, the NWA Heavyweight Champion, Dan Severn, will be defending his belt against ECCW's brand new World Champion Doby Gillis. The Headbangers and Dustin Runnels are rumored to also be attendance at both cards.

I don't get the opportunity to attend that many cards, living so far down south. But I attend as many as I can while up there visitng my boyfriend, who got me into ECCW in the first place.

You are probably wondering what I do in ECCW. Well I am webmaster, consultant and American Rep for the Army of Darkness headed by the Dark Messiah Dr. Luther who earned his fame in FMW and in Japan touring with WCW's Chris Jericho. I also am, shall we say, a cameraperson for ECCW for a show or two. I hope to do more video work for them in the future. And I am one hardcore ECCW fan. To learn more about ECCW and it's wrestlers, just check out their website at http://www.eccw.com

Well I guess this is all for this issue. Be sure to get out and support your local indys. You will be glad you did. Until next time we meet, this has been your indy reporter.
