Abortion provider faces eviction

Dr. Morris Wortman of Rochester, NY, faces eviction as his 10-yearlease with Home Leasing Corportion expired eariler this summer.

National Abortion Federation and the Femisint Majority Foundation representatives have spoken out against Home Leasing efforts to evict Wortman. Wortman's request for a month-to-month lease was refused. Home Leasing representatvies said they would grant him an extra month if during that month he would not perform any abortions.

"It is deeply offensive that the Home Leasing Corporation is trying to deny women access to safe, legal abortion services in Rochester. The women and families of Rochester should be free to make personal health care decisions without the interference of a rental company. Physicians, not leasing corporations, should be practicing medicine," said Vicki Saporta, executive director of National Abortion Federation in a NAF press release.
