We want to apologize for neglecting this column in the last few weeks. Eric graduated from college a week and a half ago, and then we moved our little family halfway across the country. Needless to say, our lives have been pretty chaotic lately! Nevertheless, here we are with this week's news . . .
First of all, parents of preemies will be interested in reading the newest edition of Life magazine (May 2000). The cover shows a large picture of Jason Michael Waldmann Jr., born 14 weeks premature. The accompanying article, written by Lise Funderburg, follows Jason and his parents as they experience life in the NICU. Although it leaves many details out, the text provides an interesting portrait of life with a preemie. It makes interesting reading; hopefully, you can all get ahold of one. If you subscribe to Parenting magazine, you may have seen a lengthy article on preemies in the October 1999 issue. Entitled "Delivery Room Heroics," the article discusses the ethics of saving premature babies. Although we didn't agree with everything in the text, it made us think. If you can find the issue, give it a read. We would be interested in hearing your opinion on the article. Coming soon to this column . . . --Great deals for new parents --Offline resources about premature birth --Music and the premature baby: What researchers have found --much, much more! Thanks for reading, Eric and Susan Jensen editors Go To Page: 1
